Forensic Access – supporting the criminal justice system with independent forensic science

Forensic Access Limited is a privately owned company which was established in 1986 in the wake of some high-profile miscarriages of justice that featured forensic science. The twin areas of focus – expert forensic critique and technical assistance in individual cases, reflect the company's goal of helping to ensure safe and sustainable forensic science evidence in court.

Since 1986 Forensic Access has worked on thousands of criminal cases, undertaking case reviews, providing critique and offering new lines of forensic enquiry. Due to our focus on bringing the most experienced forensic scientists together and for “thinking outside the box” we have developed an enviable reputation for our assistance to the criminal justice system, for the quality of our work and our focus on our customers’ requirements.

Forensic science evidence

The Forensic Access scientists cover the full range of forensic evidence routinely found in criminal defence and prosecution cases. We are also very proud to offer scientific advice and assistance in many highly specialised areas, such as blood spatter and reconstruction of criminal events.

For further information on the evidence types for which we can offer assistance, see our Forensic Evidence page.

Independent Forensic Science Experts

We are privileged in having some of the country’s leading forensic scientists working for Forensic Access: some as employees and some as consultants. All of our scientists have at some stage in their career, worked for the prosecution on major crime cases, and by doing so are well versed in appreciating the pitfalls that can arise. We train such individuals to pose credible scientific alternatives, where appropriate.

We currently work with 20 consultants covering all the general forensic services and some highly specialised areas. These consultants are some of the highest regarded scientists in their field many with international reputations. They are at the peak of their profession and are accredited by the Council For The Registration Of Forensic Practitioners (CRFP). For a list of our consultants and short profiles of each, please visit our “Forensic Scientists” page.

In addition, Roger Robson (Managing Director) and Clare Stangoe (Principal Scientist) are employed by Forensic Access. Roger has over 30 years of experience of working as a forensic scientist and has worked with all three main forensic science providers.
