Owen Facey, BSc, PhD, MFSSoc
Owen Facey became a forensic science consultant for Forensic Access in 1999.
Prior to his first appointment as a forensic scientist with the Metropolitan Police Forensic Science Laboratory in 1970, Owen studied for his first and second degrees at London University, then carried out research work at London University, Western Ontario, Canada and the Atomic Energy Research Laboratories, Oak Ridge, USA.
Owen's main areas of expertise are:
- Paint, glass and other materials requiring chemical analysis including art forgeries
- Tool and shoe marks on various surfaces, including skin
- Manufacturing marks, especially on plastic
- Foot marks and wear in shoes
- Reconstruction of broken and torn materials
- Assessment of the significance of findings within the context of the case
- Presentation of written and oral evidence to Courts of Law
