Tracy Collingridge, BSc (Hons)

Tracy trained as a Forensic Scientist with the Forensic Science Service in the field of body fluids and DNA profiling. During her time at the London laboratory of the FSS she was responsible for overseeing several hundred cases. These have covered a variety of case types, including:

• Robberies
• Drug crime
• Malicious communications
• Armed criminality
• Kidnapping
• Sexual assault
• Violent crime

In more recent years with the FSS, Tracy was part of the homicide team, specialising in murders, suspicious deaths, and more serious violent crimes. She has also been involved in the review of a number of cold cases.

Tracy has expertise in:

• Directing and conducting body fluid examination of exhibits
• Interpretation of DNA profiling tests
• Assessment of damage to clothing and comparisons with weapons
• Providing scientific advice
• Gathering relevant information for case progression
• Assessment of the significance of information provided and of scientific findings in the context of a case
• Conveying scientific findings both verbally and in written reports
• Providing oral testimony in court
• Conducting training lectures and demonstrations for police officers and scene of crime officers
