Angela is a highly motivated and influential professional internationally recognised as an expert in the forensic field of gunshot residue (GSR).  Previously employed as a Principal Forensic Scientist for the Forensic Science Service (FSS) she operates at the highest levels with all stakeholders to ensure delivery of quality forensic science and interpretation of complex casework issues and results. She has over 15 years experience providing expert testimony in the UK and internationally on the full range of GSR forensic science cases.

She is an active participant in the largest working group in the European Network of Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI) and has presented scientific papers on research projects, gaining recognition as a leading practitioner in Europe, and was unanimously voted onto the working group steering committee and was formerly Secretary of the group.

As a Principal Scientist for the FSS, Angela led on all quality and technical matters in the field of GSR. She has worked on complex and sensitive high profile police investigations in the UK and internationally providing expert witness testimony for over 15 years in cases involving the full range of gunshot residue forensic science from illegal possession of firearms to terrorism. International work includes high profile cases in Cayman Islands, Bermuda, Turks and Caicos Islands and southeast Asia. She has given expert testimony in Crown and Appeal Courts. She has received many commendations on her level of professionalism and ability to direct complex in-depth investigations and reviews.

In 2012 Angela won a UK Home Office tender to assist the Forensic Regulator in drafting the Appendices to the Codes of Practice and Conduct for GSR examination.

The Royal Society of Chemistry commissioned Angela to write a chapter for a forensic textbook,  ‘Crime Scene to Court: The Essentials of Forensic Science’,(ISBN: 978-1-84755-882-4), a recommended textbook for students, lawyers and police officers.  She is also a professional member of the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences and a member of the Expert Witness Institute.
