Specialism: Investigation of road traffic collisions and accidents involving fatal or serious injury
Graham Johnstone is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the area of Roads Policing. After a 30 year police career, he has continued his work in the private sector and has been engaged in consultancy work for a number of governmental bodies, private consultancy firms, major insurers and solicitors firms, including The Department for Transport, Highways England, College of Policing, National Police Chief’s Council, Price Waterhouse Coopers and Capita to name but a few.
As a Senior Investigating Officer and Senior Collision Investigator for fatal and serious injury road based collisions, Graham is highly skilled and well respected, his experience being derived from attendance at many hundreds of collision scenes. He also spent valuable time as a staff officer in the Chief Constable’s office, as a project manager and also acted as SME to Her Majesty’s Inspector of Constabulary in some of its inspections of other Police Forces roads policing functions.
Author of Policy and Strategy for all matters relating to roads based policing for a number of years including amongst others collision investigation, traffic management, casualty reduction, collision records, roads crime and family liaison.
Graham has also delivered training in a number of areas to Police Senior Investigating Officers and has previously had professional papers published on specialist subjects, i.e. ‘Critical Speed Measurements and their Accuracy’ published in ‘Impact’, the technical magazine of the Institute of Traffic Accident Investigators.
