Dr Saleh Dhumad is a consultant psychiatrist specialist in general adult psychiatry, substance misuse and cognitive behavioural psychotherapy. He haa worked in a wide range of mental health settings such as inpatient, community, Home Treatment & Crisis Resolution, medium secure Forensic unit and rehabilitation services.
These posts have provided extensive experience in assessing and managing Psychiatric conditions such as PTSD, schizophrenia, Bipolar Affective Disorder, Depression, anxiety disorders, substance misuse, Deliberate Self harm, Learning disability, memory problems and personality Disorders. In addition to managing forensic patients in the Community on section 37/41 of the MHA 1983.

Saleh Dhumad has undertaken independent assessments in a variety of areas and prepares reports for the Courts relating to adults, and parents or other family members. He is approved by the Secretary of State as having special experience in the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorder, in accordance with section 12 of the 1983 Act.
He has prepared more than 500 reports for the family, criminal and immigration Courts as well as for employment tribunals. These split down into, about 15% prosecution and 85% defence. He has given oral evidence as an expert witness in Courts and tribunals.

Area Of Special Interest
Dr Saleh Dhumad has a special interest in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), in particular in the context of war trauma and victims of torture. He has used the guidelines according to the Istanbul Protocol of 1999 and has assessed more than 400 individuals with PTSD from Iraq, Syria and Sri Lanka.
