Huw is one of the UK’s leading firearms experts with over thirty years of experience gained within the Metropolitan Police Forensic Science Laboratory, the Forensic Science Service and latterly with Forensic Access (formerly ArroGen Forensics).
Huw is recognised not only for his technical knowledge, but also his comprehensive understanding of the UK and international firearms legislation, which is key to the role of a Firearms Expert.
He has worked on complex and sensitive high-profile investigations in the UK and overseas, including cases of Terrorism, Murder, Armed-Robberies, Suspicious Death, Internal Police Investigations and those involving the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC). Huw’s international work has included scene work in Kosovo for the United Nations and investigating War Crimes indictments prepared by the International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia (ICTY). He has attended numerous scenes and post mortem examinations across the UK as well as in Afghanistan and Germany and has been involved in the investigations of the deaths of UK military personnel and other UK nationals in the Middle-east and Iraq.
Huw’s wealth of experience and knowledge means that not only will he maximise the forensic potential of any case but that in carrying out Case Review services, he is able to robustly scrutinise and, if necessary, challenge the findings to ensure that they are accurate and impartial.
