About Forensic Access
Independent forensic expertise, delivered with clarity and objectivity
Forensic Access provides independent forensic science, expert interpretation and training to support the criminal justice system. We work with legal professionals, investigators and organisations where forensic evidence is complex, contested or central to the issues in dispute.
Our work is grounded in scientific rigour, transparency and objectivity. We are instructed to assist the court by ensuring forensic evidence is properly understood and fairly interpreted within its correct scientific and legal context.

Our purpose
Forensic Access exists to support fair and informed decision-making within the criminal justice system. Our role is not to advocate for a particular outcome, but to provide balanced, independent expert opinion that assists courts and legal teams in evaluating forensic evidence.
We are routinely instructed to review and interpret forensic findings, assess competing propositions and advise on evidential strengths and limitations. Our approach is measured, proportionate and aligned with court expectations.
Our expertise

Our work is delivered through a network of experienced, court-going forensic scientists across a wide range of disciplines, including forensic biology and DNA, firearms and ballistics, blood pattern analysis, crime scene interpretation, toxicology and digital evidence. Our services also include a range of medical disciplines, including pathology and psychology.
Many of our experts have extensive backgrounds working within prosecution forensic service providers, alongside delivering independent expert services. This breadth of experience provides a detailed understanding of forensic processes, laboratory practice and evidential standards, while underpinning our commitment to impartial, objective interpretation.
Experts are selected based on the specific scientific and evidential issues raised in each case.
Casework management

Every instruction is supported by dedicated casework management, providing continuity and oversight from initial enquiry through to delivery of expert evidence.
Our casework team works closely with legal professionals and independent experts to ensure instructions are clearly scoped, progressed efficiently and managed in line with court requirements. This structured approach allows forensic input to remain focused, proportionate and responsive to the needs of each case.
Training and professional development

Training is a core part of Forensic Access. We deliver forensic training and CPD designed to support legal professionals, investigators and forensic practitioners in understanding, evaluating and working with forensic evidence.
Our training is delivered by practising forensic scientists and expert witnesses and reflects the same principles that underpin our casework: scientific rigour, clarity of interpretation and relevance to legal decision-making.
Quality and standards

Forensic Access is committed to maintaining high standards of professional practice and quality. We work with accredited laboratories and specialists, and our experts operate in accordance with relevant guidance, codes of practice and court expectations.
Quality assurance is embedded throughout our work, from expert selection and instruction scoping through to report review and delivery.
Professional Memberships and Accredited Training
Across our team, we are proud to include experts who hold membership of respected professional bodies, including the Royal Anthropological Institute and the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists.
These memberships reflect the depth of specialist knowledge within our wider expert network and our commitment to maintaining high standards of professional practice across the disciplines in which we work.
We also offer selected webinars and training accredited for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and by the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences, supporting ongoing learning and professional competence for individuals working across the criminal justice system.
