3 Days & Remote 2-Hour Lecture

This three-day introduction to crime scene investigation covers a broad idea of what to expect at a scene involving the biological evidence, including blood, DNA or sexual assault incidents.

This course is ideal for universities looking to add an introduction to crime scene investigation and biology awareness to their undergraduate degree courses.

Our Senior Forensic Scientist: Biology and CSI Trainer have designed this course for undergraduate students studying Forensic Biology, Forensic Science, Criminology or any related degree to build their interest in CSI or Forensic Biology in a criminal investigation.

Course Topics

Lecture Topics

Before joining us at our training facility, we host a remote 2-hour lecture on one of the following topics to introduce students to the world of Crime Scene Investigation & Biology Awareness:

  • DNA
  • Blood Pattern Analysis
  • Sexual Assault Case Investigation
  • Expert Witness Awareness
Course Modules

Day 1

Introduction to Crime Scene Investigation (Morning)

Lectures and practical sessions covering the basics of crime scene investigation.

Introduction to DNA profiling and sampling (Afternoon)

Lectures on the basics of DNA and DNA profiling, as well as exploring the different techniques available for case assessments and interpretation. Practical sessions include swabbing and DNA recovery in mock crime scenes at our training facility.

Day 2

Blood Pattern Analysis

Lectures on Blood Pattern Analysis, including different pattern types, documentation and reporting as well as DNA sampling. Then students are invited to participate in an afternoon of practical exercises in blood dynamics, reconstruction, and target boards.

Day 3

Sexual Assault Case Awareness (Morning)

Students start the final day with an introduction to sexual assault case awareness, including detection of body fluids, interpretation of findings in a case content as well as case examples and the examination of a sexual assault scene.

Concluding Scenario (Afternoon)

Students participate in practical scene-based case study exercise which incorporates everything they have learned over the 3 days!
