Threads of Evidence: The Examination of Damage to Textiles

September 24 2026, 18:00 BST

You are invited to attend our free CPD accredited webinar exploring the examination and interpretation of damage to textiles in forensic casework.

Presented by Mike Wheelhouse, Reporting Forensic Scientist: Biology at Forensic Access, this session will provide practical insight into how damage to clothing and other textile items can assist with case reconstruction and the interpretation of disputed events.

Mike has over 27 years’ experience as a forensic scientist. His areas of expertise include body fluids, hairs, textile damage, DNA profiling, blood pattern interpretation and crime scene examination.

This webinar will cover key areas including:

  • How textile damage analysis can support case reconstruction
  • Identifying and interpreting common damage types
  • Comparing damage with potential weapons or implements
  • Linking or differentiating fabric pieces from the same garment
  • The role of textile evidence in cases involving disputed accounts
  • Real case examples where textile evidence helped clarify events

This webinar is open to all attendees, and may be particularly useful for legal professionals, investigators, students and anyone with an interest in forensic science or textile evidence.

Upon completion of this webinar, please contact us at info@forensic-access.co.uk for your CPD certificate. Please note: Due to high demand, we are only able to issue CPD certificates to UK residents. We welcome international participants to join our sessions, but certificates cannot be provided outside the UK.
