Dr McAllister has been providing reports for the court since 2001.
In this webinar our expert will cover a range of topics relating to forensic psychiatry, including what to expect from an expert witness you instruct and how to get the best out of that instruction for your client.
This webinar will identify key learning areas including:
- The difference between the role of a psychiatrist and psychologist.
- Real-life cases to demonstrate the role of a forensic psychiatrists as an expert witness.
- The importance in understanding the nature of your client’s plea, instructing counsel, challenging a juror or witness, and following the proceedings of court.
- The importance of clarity in a letter of instruction whether you would prefer a remote or face-to-face assessment for your client.
Our expert will also discuss the future for criminal courts, including remand for assessment without conviction under section 35 of the Mental Health Act, remand for treatment under section 36 of the Mental Health Act and the power to commit the case to Crown Court for consideration of a restriction order following an actor’s rest finding.
