Dr Fitzpatrick-Swallow graduated from Medical School in London in 2008. She carried out her general Histology training between 2011 and 2013 in London and Leicester and then her Forensic Histopatholgy training between 2013 and 2017 at East Midlands Forensic Pathology Unit, Leicester. Since June 2017 Dr Fitzpatrick-Swallow has been working as an independent consultant with Forensic Pathology Services.
Dr Fitzpatrick-Swallow has experience in mass fatalities. These include the Tunisia Holiday Resort Shooting as a Pathology observer at Fulham public mortuary in June 2015. The Manchester Arena Bombing as pathology support at Royal Oldham Hospital mortuary in May 2017 and The Grenfell Tower Fire as part of the team of pathologists who conducted the post-mortem examinations at Westminster public mortuary in June 2017.
She performs autopsies in cases of suspicious death and provides expert opinion on the nature and opinion of injuries, both in the living and the dead. As such, she spends a considerable amount of time providing expert testimony in various courts.
